Blues 3, Penguins 0

It feels good, it sounds great, it looks awesome and oh yes it was a shutout too.

The boys in Blue have done it. The win is great and was good to see. It was a complete feel good moment.

But on that note, hats off to Marc-Andre Fluery. He was awesome in net facing 42 shot and only giving up 2 goals. The third to me does not count being an empty net.

Curtis “The Sandman” Sanford

Keith Tkachuk and Jamal Mayers each scored their eighth goals of the season and goalie Curtis Sanford made 21 saves as the St. Louis Blues shut out the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-0 Tuesday night.

Tkachuk’s goal was his eighth in nine games, extending his goal scoring streak to five games and giving him 15 points in his last seven games.

Mayers clinched the win for the Blues with a short-handed goal with about 5 minutes remaining. He put the puck between the legs of Pittsburgh goalie Marc-Andre Fleury after breaking in alone following a turnover by the Penguins.

Doug Weight finished the scoring with an empty netter with 50 seconds left.

Pittsburgh was shut out for the third time this year.

Sanford, who was making his first start since Nov. 26, improved his record to 3-4. Fleury dropped to 2-6-1 on the year despite making 39 saves.

St. Louis broke the 0-0 tie less than a minute into the second period when Tkachuk scored on a feed from Mike Sillinger.

The play developed as a 3-on-1 with Dennis Wideman trailing once Pittsburgh’s Sergei Gonchar fell down at the St. Louis blue line when he overskated Sidney Crosby’s drop pass.
