Why I like Apple

New MacBook — Pretty

Apple just recently release an updated MacBook and it is very nice.

Durable unibody enclosure.

A mere 1.08 inches thin and even lighter at 4.7 pounds,1 the sleek new MacBook cuts a slim profile on any desk (or in any backpack or briefcase). It features a new seamless, more durable unibody enclosure with rounded contours that make it easy to pick up and slide into and out of your bag. And it’s made of rugged polycarbonate that withstands the rough and tumble of everyday life — at school, at work, or while traveling. Even the bottom of the new MacBook feels different. Covering its entire surface is a nonslip material that keeps your MacBook right where you put it, whether on a desk, table, or airplane tray.

Summer Garden — Update

Rather than come up with a good excuse to explain like that I have been so busy, there is never enough time to blog or something of the like, I am behind and today I am playing catch up. But we should all note the wisdom in, “It is better to stay caught up than play catch up”

The good thing is that I have keeping with pictures of the garden’s progress, well at least most of the time.

There is some sad news however, squirrels like tomatoes. Good for them but not good for me or the tomato plant. Two of them have taken some damage. Those darn squirrels like to climb up in the vine and they take the fruit. The trauma that the plant suffers is harsh and several of the main stems break and fall down. It is very sad. Next season there is going to be some anti-squirrel technology in place.

The good news is that has been some harvesting done and the tomatoes and peppers look and taste great!

Be ready, there is going to be lots of pictures in this post.

Projects: The Wall

I decided that after a bad day at work, that I need some accomplishment. So, I have been want to build a small retaining wall near the west side of the house.

I should have taken a before picture but did not think of it until I took an after picture. However, I did find the this one that I took when we were first interested in this house.

You can see a big pile of dirt that “fell” down an older wall of rocks.

Here is all the rocks that I dug out first that was buried under all the dirt.

And we have the finished retaining wall. It is pretty.

Summer Garden — Week 6

Okay, so I am a little behind on the photo update. But I am very excited that they are doing so well. There is some sad news, the herbs did not make it after a couple of days of hard rain.

I also am growing red bell peppers. I just put the pepper plant in a new pot and it perked up.

New phishing scam hits Facebook

To all the folks that there that are on Facebook …. there is scam a foot.

A new phishing scam is hitting Facebook users on Thursday that, like others in recent weeks, sends them to a Web site designed to steal their log-in information.

Facebook users reportedly are receiving messages from friends with a subject line of “Hello” and a prompt to check out “areps.at” or another one ending in “.at”.

If you log in to the site, it steals your e-mail and password, logs you into Facebook, automatically changes your password, and sends the same message to all your Facebook friends, according to the All Facebook blog.

Bartholomew the Bunny

In the last several weeks we have had some rain and I have am a week or so behind on mowing the front yard. The grass seemed to get really tall overnight.

The other day, I noticed a cute bunny just hanging out in the tall grass watching the people and cars go by. That evening I decided to mow the grass and I started with the backyard. When I was finished, the bunny was still there happy as a bunny could be. So I decided to mow the front another day.

This morning on my way out the door I noticed the bunny and he did not even move when I took the trash and recycle bins to the curb.

Summer Garden — Week 1

Not too long ago, Lynn and I were at Trader Joe’s and I got some vine ripe tomatoes and they were wonderful. They were very tasty with some fresh mozzarella, basil and splash of balsamic vinegar.

The part that was not so good was the tomatoes were a little on the expensive side. So I decided that I should grow some.

Here is the first week. We do not have a formal garden area so I am growing them in pots on the deck. I found Bonnie Plants has a wealth of information for those, like me, who are first time veggie growers.

Looks Good!

Here are some nice herbs too!
